POTTSTOWN PA – Families in Lower, Upper and West Pottsgrove townships who are interested in enrolling their children in the summer recreation and playground program being sponsored by the Pottsgrove Recreation Board have been given extra days to accomplish the task. The application deadline has been extended through Wednesday (June 20, 2012), Director of Recreation Jody Sweinhart said.
Registration forms are available from the board website, here. Sweinhart also offered a new phone number for parents to call for information: 484-300-9637
The program begins only five days later, next Monday (June 25), and continues through July 27. It includes opportunities to play sports, have arts and crafts time, and attend prearranged trips. It’s open to all Pottsgrove children who have completed kindergarten through 8th grade, with on-site activities Mondays through Thursdays, and trips planned for Fridays.
Program sites have been relocated because of redistricting plans for elementary schools in the Pottsgrove School District, and are now established at Ringing Rocks Elementary School, on Kauffman Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township; and at the West Pottsgrove Township municipal building on Grosstown Road in Stowe.
Among trips being scheduled are those for miniature golf, bowling, swimming, roller skating, and watching a Reading Phillies game.
Participation fees that cover the cost of program activities will be charged at the rate of $50 per child for the first and second children of each family, but with a maximum charge of $125 per family no matter the number of children it registers. Registrations will not be held, the board cautions, once the playground program opens.
The board is the central recreational organization of the Pottsgrove townships, and was created to provide recreational activities for their residents. Funding is provided by the three townships and the school district. Board members meet on the second Thursday of each month.
