SANATOGA PA – The contract negotiations are over. The paperwork is settled. And tonight (Monday, July 9, 2012), the Lower Pottsgrove Township Board of Commissioners expects, police department Acting Chief Michael Foltz will earn a promotion.
Foltz has served in recent months as the department’s interim leader, following the January 2012 retirement of former Chief Michael Shade. Shade lobbied commissioners to have Foltz, his lieutenant and trusted second-in-command, named as his successor. Commissioners have repeatedly said they thought that would be a good idea, and have complimented Foltz on changes made under his early watch.
During the board’s last session (June 21), President Jonathan Spadt announced commissioners would have a motion to promote Foltz to chief – and drop the “acting” portion of his current title – on their agenda for tonight’s meeting.
The agenda isn’t yet available; in fact, the one currently on the township website hasn’t been updated since June 4. The meeting is nonetheless open to the public, at 7 p.m. in the municipal building, 2199 Buchert Rd., Sanatoga.
