APPOINTMENT OFFICIAL; CEREMONY CONDUCTED MONDAY – With his right hand on a Bible held by son Ryan, 16, second from left above, and daughter Allison, 14, Lower Pottsgrove Police Department Lt. Michael Foltz, formerly the township’s acting police chief, took his oath of office Monday (July 9, 2012) and officially became police chief, following his appointment by the Board of Commissioners. Foltz had served as acting chief since January, following the retirement of Michael Shade. District Justice Edward Kropp Sr., above right, installed Foltz in the ceremony attended by many of his officers, family members and friends. Before the ceremony, board President Jonathan Spadt, (at left below) joined by his fellow commissioners, talked about Foltz’s accomplishments, which include training at the FBI Academy. Once the oath was over, three generations of the Foltz family gathered for a family portrait (bottom).
