SANATOGA PA – Post Publications’ Managing Editor Joe Zlomek is hitting the road this summer to issue a series of special reports for readers of The Sanatoga, Limerick, Pottstown, and Main Street Posts, and later this fall to learn about the latest and best practices for enhanced online news reporting.

Reporting From The Nation’s Premier Conference On Diabetes
Zlomek has received full media credentials to report on events during the 2012 conference of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), scheduled for Aug. 1-4 in Indianapolis. The Posts intend to produce several stories about
- the increase of diabetes both locally and nationally,
- how local physicians and their patients are coping with the disease and its spread,
- what local programs and techniques are available to help diabetics in their sometimes hourly battles to control blood sugar levels, and
- new technologies that may make control easier.
In keeping with the Post Publications’ emphasis on local news, Zlomek wants to hear from diabetics across the Sanatoga, Limerick and Pottstown areas about the problems and needs they face, and the successes they enjoy. He’d also like to hear from medical providers interested in offering their thoughts on these and related subjects. If you’re willing to contribute your comments or be interviewed, contact him at The Posts’ e-mail address: sanatoga@yahoo.com.
The Posts will continue on their regular daily schedules to publish other local news as well while Zlomek is in Indiana.

Learning Best Practices To Keep You Better Informed
Just a month later, from Sept. 13-15 in Chicago, Zlomek is scheduled to attend the 2012 summit of the Block-By-Block Community News Network.
Block-By-Block is a gathering of online community news entrepreneurs held annually to exchange best practice ideas, discuss progress and challenges in online publishing, and learn from each others’ experiences. Last year’s sessions were attended by dozens of groups and individuals that, like The Posts, specialize in reporting community news often missed or ignored by larger media outlets.
Again, The Posts will continue to publish while Zlomek is in Illinois.

Let Burt Stein Know About Your Local Business
The arrival last month of Business Editor Burt Stein at The Posts attracted notice in some prestigious places, as befitting his experience and tenure. The Carolina Business News Initiative relayed the announcement to its members; so did the International Real Estate Trade Organization. Gorkana, a trade group that serves as liaison between multi-national corporations and journalists, extended him membership and access privileges.
That attention is flattering, of course, but the businesses and business groups Stein really wants to hear from are those here in western Montgomery County.
If good things are happening in or with your company – someone’s been promoted, someone’s been hired, someone’s gained new skill or expertise, the business is booming, a new addition is going up … you get the idea – Stein and The Posts want to report them. Feel free to drop a line to Stein via e-mail at bstein@wordwrks.com, or to Managing Editor Joe Zlomek at sanatoga@yahoo.com, or both.
What Makes A Photographer Tick? Her Love Of Life!
Professional photographer Aimee Marie Herbert of Sanatoga – Post readers last saw her photos taken for our editions during the July 5 memorial for Pottsgrove High School track star Damon Carter – recently re-designed her website and included what may be its most endearing feature: a page titled “Behind The Lens”, on which Herbert leaks 11 different secrets about herself.
It’s fun and funny, but we’re not going to spoil it for you. We’ll just suggest you check it out.
