HARRISBURG PA – Two free online lessons showing how consumers can take advantage of Pennsylvania’s recently re-opened Homeowner Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program to avoid home foreclosure will be offered during September by the state Treasury Department and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
Until being shut down for a year because of budget cuts, the program enabled tens of thousands of families to become current on their mortgage payments and avoid foreclosure, according to Treasurer Rob McCord. It once again began accepting applications in August, thanks to new funding from a national mortgage settlement agreement.
The Treasury’s free “MoneyWise 101″ online seminar series is now taking registrations for its identical tutorials, being offered:
- Sept. 11 (2012; Tuesday), from Noon to 1 p.m.; an
- Sept. 13 (2012; Thursday) from 6-7 p.m.
