MAYBE A BOOK FOREST IS NEXT? – In Pottsgrove High School’s latest attempt to be green, its librarians created what they describe as a “book tree” out of old volumes that might have otherwise been discarded. These books were removed from library shelves because they are outdated or have been replaced by newer editions or copies. The imaginative “tree” probably prompts some interesting discussions – “Is that Plato, out on a limb?” – and also will be part of the library’s holiday plans. When this photo appeared last week (Oct. 3, 2012) in the library staff’s Twitter stream, it was accompanied by a note that said the tree will be dressed up for holidays and other seasonal events. It’s worth noting that, without a single item adorning its flyleaves, the tree is ready to observe October as National Book Month.
