Lower Pottsgrove Opens Registration For Basketball Season

The start of the season is close at hand

POTTSTOWN PA – It’s that time of year again: registration is now open for the Lower Pottsgrove Athletic Association’s (LPAA) 2012-2013 basketball season for boys and girls in grades 3-8.

The program teaches basic and advanced basketball skills, and encourages healthy play and good sportsmanship in games held weekly during the fall and early winter months.

Registration forms and additional information are available for download, here, and can be returned by mail or in person. In-person registration will be held in the upper lobby of the Pottsgrove Middle School, North Hanover Street, on:

  • Tuesday (Oct. 23) from 6-8 p.m.;
  • Wednesday (Oct. 24) from 6-8 p.m.;
  • Thursday (Oct. 25) from 6-8 p.m.; and
  • Saturday (Oct. 27) from 1-4 p.m.

Registration costs $45 for participants in grades 3-6, and $50 for those in grades 7-8. A $15 late fee will be charged for mailed registrations postmarked after Nov. 10. Checks only will accepted via mail, and should be made payable to LPAA; cash and checks will be accepted for in-person sign-ups.

The public, players, parents and coaches can keep up with LPAA announcements and weather alerts at its Facebook page, here, and its Twitter account, here.

LPAA is in need of a director for its 7th- and 8th-grade program, as well as volunteers to referee games, work the scoreboard and keep game books. No prior experience is needed. The length of the season will depend on the level of volunteer support.

Parents and others who are interested in coaching or serving as an assistant coach for a team this year should download and complete a coach’s contact information form, here, and coach’s ethics form, here.
