SANATOGA PA – Lower Pottsgrove Township’s Board of Commissioners quickly plowed through a relatively light agenda Thursday night (Oct. 18, 2012) during their second meeting of the month, and accomplished most of its public business within 20 minutes. Board members stayed somewhat longer however, in the conference room of the municipal building, 2199 Buchert Rd., after their meeting officially adjourned.
The reason: to conduct an executive session “regarding a personnel matter.” It was announced in advance in print at the bottom of the agenda, and the announcement was repeated at the end of the meeting by board President Jonathan Spadt.
Board discussions of some legal and personnel matters are allowed by state law in closed-door meetings, not attended by the public, under certain circumstances.
There was no mention of a specific personnel item to be discussed. It is unknown how long the board met, or if any public business such as an official vote was held after the session ended.
The board similarly met in executive session last month (Sept. 20), but specified then that it was to consider “contract issues with the police department.”
