West Pottsgrove Students Collect Items For Hurricane Victims

The hurricane is gone, but its effects linger

STOWE PA – Students and parents at West Pottsgrove Elementary School, Grosstown Road, have Long Beach Island NJ victims of Hurricane Sandy in their hearts this week, Parent-Teacher Organization President April Thorum reports, as they collect clothing, books and other needed items to be donated to relief efforts there.

They’d like public help, too, but time is running out. Donations must be delivered to the school by Tuesday (Nov. 20) during school hours.

Their collection efforts began last week, with students and their families chipping in what they can, with an emphasis on education. Particularly needed, Thorum said, are:

  • Book bags and back packs
  • Children’s clothing
  • Toys and puzzles
  • Toiletries and other personal essentials
  • Books to replace classroom libraries
  • Educational games suitable for pre-school through 6th grade

Principal Theresa Koehler will deliver the items in the days following Thanksgiving, Thorum said. For more information, all Thorum at 610-327-1375.
