A large crowd, which came Tuesday to the Pottsgrove High School cafeteria primarily to cheer on the Falcons’ championship-winning marching band, also took in a civics lesson as they sat through the school board reorganizational meeting
POTTSTOWN PA – Scott Fulmer was re-elected Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2012) as president, and David Faulkner was re-elected vice-president, both to serve their first full-year terms as officers of the Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors.

Acting Superintendent Shellie Feola and board President Scott Fulmer chat before the start of the reorganizational meeting
Ballots cast by seven of nine directors during the board’s annual reorganizational meeting were unanimous. Directors Patti Grimm and Jodi Adams were absent and did not vote.
The formal and somewhat scripted reorganization is required by state law, and was held separately from the first of the board’s regular December meetings. Secretary Justin Valentine opened and initially presided over the reorganization until Faulkner was chosen as temporary president. Faulkner supervised the voting for president, and then relinquished the meeting to Fulmer.
Fulmer and Faulkner were chosen for their seats during August (2012), following the resignation of Director Michael Neiffer as president, and this week officially completed the unexpired terms of their predecessors.
Board members also unanimously voted for Director Ted Coffelt as one of the district’s three representatives on the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center’s Joint Operating Committee. Coffelt’s term ends in December 2015. Also representing Pottsgrove on the committee are Fulmer and Grimm.
Appointed by Fulmer to the board’s Facilities and Athletic Committee were himself as chairman, and Adams, Grimm and Coffelt. Appointed to its Policy Committee were Faulkner as chairman, and Valentine, Adams, and Nancy Landes.
The entire process took about 10 minutes.

I look forward to a board that has the taxpayers in mind when they make fiscal decisions. I am hoping that we’ll see responsible decisions that realize that the residents of the community fund their decision-making and that we all have a financial stake in wise and prudent decision-making.
Glad to see these two aboard in the roles they have.
