SANATOGA PA – Two Lower Pottsgrove robbers armed with handguns entered an occupied apartment Sunday night (Dec. 9, 2012) at the Rolling Hills complex on Buchert Road, showed weapons to four people inside, and demanded cash. They left with only two cell phones, and officers from five area police departments searching for them.
No one was injured.
Suspects being sought after the 6:25 p.m. incident, according to township police Ofc. Dan Kienle, are two black males, both thought to be in their 20s. One is light-skinned, has facial hair, and was said to have been wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, tan or camouflage-style plants and Timberland-brand boots. The second is dark-skinned with no facial hair, and was said to have been wearing dark clothing.
The hunt for them, and investigation of the incident, is continuing.
Kienle reported the pair entered the front door of Unit 145 at the apartments, clustered west of Gerald Richards Park on the south side of Buchert, brandishing silver- and dark-colored semi-automatic handguns. They wanted money, but the victims said they had none, so the robbers settled for taking the phones. The occupants called police immediately after, Kienle said.
In addition to Lower Pottsgrove, police departments from New Hanover, Limerick (including a K-9 officer and his dog), Douglass townships and Pottstown borough responded. While some officers and the dog searched the grounds, others cordoned off the complex and stood guard with weapons of their own. The suspects, who reportedly fled on foot, were not found.
Kienle and Lower Pottsgrove Det. Joe Campbell hope members of the public can help them locate the pair. Anyone with information about them or the incident is being asked to call the department at 610-326-1508, or its anonymous tip-line at 610-323-1130.
