POTTSTOWN PA – Christmas Eve may have held less reason to celebrate than Vonceil Daniels hoped.
Daniels, 51, of Robinson Avenue, was arrested Monday (Dec. 24, 2012) by Lower Pottsgrove Township police on charges of retail theft, regarding $49 in merchandise that Ofc. Robert Diesinger alleged was stolen from the Dollar General store in the North End Shopping Center, 1300 N. Charlotte St.
Diesinger said he was on patrol in the shopping center, conducting a security check of businesses there, when Dollar General employees told him of a retail theft that had “just occurred.” He apprehended a suspect, Daniels, after a brief pursuit and as he hid behind a business on the opposite side of the street.
Daniels was arrested, processed, issued a citation for rail theft, and released, Diesinger said.
