Former Rite Aid Gets New Tenant ... In Limerick Township

DOLLAR TREE OCCUPIES VACANT RITE AID IN LIMERICK – The Dollar Tree national chain of discount stores, which already operates in Pottstown, Collegeville and Phoenixville, has begun renovating a former Rite Aid Pharmacy building at Lewis Road and Ridge Pike in Limerick PA to become its newest location. Interior repairs and remodeling began two weeks ago (Dec. 10, 2012), and exterior signs were installed last week. The structure is identical to another vacated Rite Aid – originally erected as an Eckerd Drugs facility – on the corner of East High Street and North Pleasant View Road in Sanatoga; it has sat empty and unused for about four years. The Limerick location reportedly was the site of Dec. 11 union picketing over contractor wage issues.

The facility that now occupies what once was the heart of Sanatoga (ie the post office and service station) is like several other venues locally that are empty. Would be a great place for a mini mall for several small business tenants or subdivided office spaces.

It’s a shame we gave up KEMPS and our homey PO and local fuel / gossip stop for an empty shell… Wonder how old the original building they tore down was…
