Pottsgrove Schools Set Jan. 23 As Family Reading Night

POTTSTOWN PA – Parents of students attending any Pottsgrove School District elementary school can learn more about sharing the love of reading – including emphasis on interactive reading aloud and independent reading – during a two-part family reading night program scheduled for Jan. 23 (2013; Wednesday).

Sessions begin at 6 and 6:45 p.m. respectively, in both Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, Buchert Road, Pottstown, and West Pottsgrove Elementary School, Grosstown Road, Stowe.

At either building, the first session runs from 6-6:35 p.m.; the second from 6:45-7:30 p.m. For parents’ benefit, both cover independent reading – strategies their child is using in class to choose a “just right book” and how they can monitor their child’s progress – as well as interactive read-alouds, at which children sit, listen to books being read, and learn what good readers do as they read.

Advance registration is requested by Jan. 16. Registration forms can be downloaded from the Pottsgrove School District website, here.
