POTTSTOWN PA – Personnel actions recommended by the Pottsgrove School District administration were accepted last Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2013) by the Board of School Directors. A total of 69 positions were affected. They include:
Professional appointments
- Rebecca Hutchins, Erika Geisy, Janice Lawless, Julie Young, Kristin Rambo, Heather Geist, Veronica Lightcap, Ben Gellar, Robin Scouton, Penny Schaeffer, Amy Long, and Lauren Laird; all as after-school tutors, at a rate of $31.50 hourly, effective Jan. 2 (2013).
Resignation of professional substitutes
- Tim Kelly, substitute teacher, effective Jan. 4.
Approval of professional substitutes
- Rebecca Baumgardner and Tracy Spinelli, substitute nurse and substitute teacher, respectively; both at a rate of $100 daily, effective Jan. 2;
- Terri Minotto, Karen Ottaviano, Nicole Zawada-Care, Kelly Snyder, and Christine Campbell; all as substitute after-school tutors, at a rate of $31.50 hourly, effective Jan. 2.
Support staff resignations
- Rosemary Lorenzo, Lower Pottsgrove duty aide, effective Dec. 21 (2012); Heather Feltenberger, student assistant, Dec. 21; Kelly Towson, intervention tutor, Jan. 1.

- Bonita Anderson, middle school instructional assistant, Jan. 1.
Support staff assignments and classification changes
- Judy Berry, from student assistant at the high school to instructional assistant at the middle school, $14.01 hourly, effective Jan. 7;
- Kristen Curnew, from support staff substitute to student assistant at the high school, $11.69 hourly, effective Jan. 7;
- Kim Hritz, from support staff substitute to duty aide at Lower Pottsgrove, $11.02 hourly, effective Jan. 2;
- Thomas Harrar, from custodian to head custodian at the middle school, at an additional rate, effective Jan. 13;
- Marvin Thrasher, from custodian to head custodian at Lower Pottsgrove, at an additional rate, effective Jan. 13;
- Mark Pettis, from custodian at the middle school to head custodian at the high school, at an additional rate, effective Jan. 13; and
- John Albitz, from custodian at the high school to substitute custodian, $10.85 hourly, effective Jan. 1.

- Kim Brown, support staff substitute, effective Dec. 17.
Conference attendance
- David Nester, Business Administrator, to attend PASBO Annual Conference. The cost of the conference is $1,358. Substitute coverage is not required.
- Ronald Linke, Assistant Business Manager, and Roberta Oxenford, Child Accounting, to attend A/CAPA Spring Conference. The cost of the conference is $1,688. Substitute coverage is not required.
- Marianne Harrison, Reading Specialist; Linda Rendina, Reading Specialist; Karen Wolfe, Reading Specialist; Meganlyn Rendina, Reading Specialist; Nicole Zawada-Care, 4th Grade Teacher; Daniel Garrigan-Byerly, 3rd Grade Teacher; Maura Lundstrome, Reading Specialist; Kathy McGeehan, 5th Grade Teacher; Rebecca Hutchins, Reading Specialist; Robert Land, Reading Specialist; Tonya Baker, 5th Grade Teacher; Stephany Gerloff, 3rd Grade Teacher; Gretchen Radswillas, 1st Grade Teacher; Marissa Bono, 3rd Grade Teacher; Lisa Cullin, 5th Grade Teacher; Melissa Holloway, 1st Grade Teacher; Brenda Novak, 5th Grade Teacher; Susan Michener, Special Education Teacher; and Christy Kirsch, Curriculum and Instruction Coach, to attend Pathways to the Common Core. - Doriann Parker, Curriculum and Instruction Coach, and Terri Minotto, 1st Grade Teacher, to attend Talking the Talk: Invigorate Partner Reading and Talk Across the Day. The cost of the workshop is $520. Substitute coverage is required for Minotto.
- Betsy Bevan, 3rd Grade Teacher; Elizabeth Bevan, 2nd Grade Teacher; and Christy Kirsch, Curriculum and Instruction Coach, to attend Writing About Reading: Literary Essay and Beyond. The cost of the workshop is $815. Substitute coverage is required for B. Bevan, and E. Bevan
- Shandy Farin, Kindergarten Teacher, and Kelly Snyder, Kindergarten Teacher, to attend Reading and Writing Information Books. The cost of the workshop is $540. Substitute coverage is required.
- Marilyn Eaton, Health and Physical Education Teacher, to attend AAHPERD Eastern District Conference. The cost of the conference is $290. Substitute coverage is required.
- Shellie Feola, Superintendent; Scott Fulmer, School Board President; and Dave Faulkner, School Board Vice President, to attend PSBA’s “Leadership. Service. Advocacy.” The cost of the conference is $477. Substitute coverage is not required.
- Stephen Mellor, Girls’ Soccer Head Coach; Jay Witkowski, Boys Soccer Head Coach; Jeff Erb, Boys Soccer Assistant Head Coach, to attend NSCAA Coaches Clinic. The cost of the clinic is $750. Substitute coverage is required for Mellor and Witkowski.
- Eileen Forsyth, High School Gifted Support Teacher, to attend Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference. The cost of the conference is $808. Substitute coverage is required.
