Safety Concerns Raised With Pottstown School Redistricting

POTTSTOWN PA – Concern about the safety of some students who may have to cross traffic-laden High Street downtown to reach their school buildings was the primary objection raised Thursday (Feb. 21, 2013) to a redistricting plan unveiled by the Pottstown School District, according to The (Pottstown PA) Mercury.

High Street is labeled by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a hazardous road, similar to Route 100. As a result, the district is required bus students across it. Administrators have asked PennDOT to re-examine the road and conduct new safety and traffic studies, it reported.
