Forget Faux Maple Slurple! Real Thing’s In Green Lane

GREEN LANE PA – “Maple Sugar Magic” returns today (Saturday, March 2, 2013) at Montgomery County’s Green Lane Park, 2821 Hill Rd., with separate programs at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. that are free and open to the public. Educators and volunteers will demonstrate the centuries-old process of making maple syrup and sugar from the sap of maple trees.

Visitors can witness the tapping of a maple tree and the boiling process in an evaporator, and learn about the tradition of the “sugaring off” party. They’ll also be able to compare the taste of real maple syrup with commercial pancake syrup.
