SANATOGA PA – Charges of felony child endangerment have been lodged against a 45-year-old Lower Pottsgrove man who police said told them Monday (April 22, 2013) he had taken several medications before attempting to transport his two children in a car from a home in Walnut Ridge Estates, according to The (Pottstown PA) Mercury.
Under arrest and confined to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville was Sabri Elshiwakh, who was determined by a Pennsylvania State Police drug recognition expert to be under the influence of a controlled substance and unable to safely operate a vehicle, police said. He was unable to post bail set by District Magistrate Edward C. Kropp Sr. during his arraignment.
Police were called to the home after 8 p.m. by neighbors, who said they saw Elshiwakh back a car in which his children were riding from a parking space, hit two other vehicles, and then pulled back in.
“When police asked Elshiwakh if he had been drinking or if he had taken any narcotics, he showed them four prescription bottles taken from his coat pocket,” The Mercury reported. They also found his license had been suspended.
