Woman Awaits Sentence On Housing Benefit Theft

Woman Awaits Sentence On Housing Benefit TheftNORRISTOWN PA – A woman whom prosecutors allege used fraud to gain about $54,000 in Montgomery County-administered public housing benefits, while living on Buchert Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township between 2000 and 2012, has pleaded guilty in county court to a felony charge of theft by deception or false impression, The (Pottstown PA) Mercury reported Tuesday (May 7, 2013).

An investigation revealed Tracey Warren, 47, “falsified her public housing applications by failing to truthfully report and update her household composition and income,” The Mercury said. That caused the government to pay her money that effective helped lower her home rental costs, according to Assistant District Attorney Noah Marlier.

Warren currently is free on bail. The court is awaiting completion of a background report on her before imposing a sentence.
