SSgt. Thomas A. Hripto
POTTSTOWN PA – Funeral services for SSgt. Thomas A. Hripto, 37, who died last week during an emergency incident at his Lower Pottsgrove Township home, to which police and other first responders were called, are scheduled for Thursday (July 18, 2013) at 7 p.m. from the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St. Public calling hours are planned for the hour (6-7 p.m.) before the services.
Officiating will be the Rev. Barry L. Moyer.
Hripto was currently serving in the Army National Guard as a training and readiness officer, with 19 years of service. During his tenure he had been deployed for assignments in Kosovo (2003-2004), and to provide aid following Hurricane Katrina during 2005. He had attained the Humanitarian Service Medal, and was awarded a Bronze Star from his campaign in Kosovo.
Hripto was an avid hunter and fisherman. Born in Norristown PA, he was a son of Robert Hripto of Schwenksville and Andrea E. (Eskie) Hripto of Spring City.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Gregory J. Hripto and his wife Tania, of Pequea, and John M. Hripto and his wife Jacqueline, Spring City; and one sister, Christine, wife of Arthur Yerger, Douglassville. He was predeceased by one niece, Samantha Hripto, and one nephew Dominic Hripto.
Burial with military honors will be held Friday (July 19) at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville PA. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Armed Forces Foundation, 16 N. Carolina Ave. S.E., Washington DC 20003.
