POTTSTOWN PA – Bill Ziegler knows a picture is worth a thousand words, and knows too that education – like any other product or service – is a marketable commodity. So Ziegler, principal at Pottsgrove High School, launched its new academic year Tuesday (Aug. 27, 2013) by doing what he often does: distributing photos that promote and sell the fun side of local learning.
Ziegler sent high school parents an e-mailed newsletter that he said documented a Pottsgrove High first day “filled with first-time events in the life of many students.” They included, at top, an inaugural English class with teacher Elizabeth Mays-Coleman; below, a laugh in a classroom and the first bus arrival; and at bottom, a cafeteria lunch and opening science class.
“The first day at PGHS started off with a huge success,” Ziegler told e-mail recipients. “Thanks to the students, parents, teachers, and staff at PGHS for an incredible start to the school year. Today was a fun-filled day energized by friends reuniting from the summer break, students digging into learning, and teachers building relationships with students … Best wishes on a new school year!”
