POTTSTOWN PA – Diamond’s Hope, the Relay For Life team of Lower Pottsgrove-based Diamond Credit Union, raised a total of $73,300 during 2013 in its efforts to support the American Cancer Society, the credit union has announced.
The feat marks the eighth consecutive year in which Diamond has made the society’s Relay For Life events – one occurs annually at the stadium of Pottsgrove High School – a fund-raising focus, officials said. The grand total raised over all eight years is $488,905. During 2013, Diamond was the presenting sponsor of the Berks County Relay For Life events, as well as a corporate sponsor for the Pottstown Relay For Life.
The credit union’s entire staff contributed to the total through a series of fund-raising initiatives, according to the company. Some of Diamond’s most popular events include its annual golf invitational, Winner’s Choice Designer Bag Bingo, beef and beer events, a Philadelphia Eagles’ basketball game, shredding events, and hot dog and bake sales.
“It is a labor of love for all of our employees, and we all agree that the fight against cancer is a fight worth having. Thanks to the support of so many community members we’ve had another amazing Relay season,” said Diamond President and CEO John Faust.
Diamond Credit Union is the 18th largest credit union in Pennsylvania, with more than $400 million in assets and more than 45,000 members.
