ROYERSFORD PA — Royersford dentist Dr. Eric Paster says more than 400 pounds of holiday candy is on its way from his office, 500 Walnut St., to U.S. Armed Services troops in a donation program he operated Nov. 1-14 with the help of community residents, his patients, and the Liberty USO.

Paster paid area children $1 for every pound of candy they donated during the two-week period, with all candy donations going directly to active duty service men and women.

“I would like thank the families and schools from the area who made our Operation Buyback program such a big success in its first year,” Paster said. “We are sure to bring a smile to our troops this holiday season. We will be continuing this tradition next year, and upping our goal to 750 pounds.” A total of 467 pounds of candy was collected and presented to USO representative Chris Davis.

“We appreciate any and all help … to support our troops,” said Davis. “The need never goes away. Our mission is 365 days a year to take care of active duty troops, and their dependents.”
