Handgun Waved During A Sanatoga Domestic Dispute

Handgun Waived During A Sanatoga Domestic DisputeSANATOGA PA – A 42-year-old resident of the 1200 block of Maple Glen Circle was arrested Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013) at 10:09 p.m. by Lower Pottsgrove police after they said he waved a gun around during a domestic dispute.

Daniel James Miller faces three charges related to the incident, they reported: a misdemeanor count of making terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another, a misdemeanor count of simple assault, and one count of summary harassment.

Township Ofc. Matthew Meitzler responded to the alleged dispute, in which a 9-1-1 caller said the suspect was armed with a handgun on display both inside and outside the home. Meitzler arrived to find Miller in front of the house, and detained him for officer safety. Miller directed Meitzler to the gun, a loaded Makarov 9mm, in his car beneath the front seat.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Miller and an unidentified woman had been arguing in the home, and that Miller attempted to punch the woman and did slap her in the face. Miller was slapped in return, Meitzler indicated, and then “pulled the loaded gun out of his pocket and waved it around.”

“At no time did Miller point the gun at anyone,” Meitzler reported; “he just displayed it and waved it around with others present.”

Miller was arraigned on Christmas morning, and sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville after failing to post a cash bail set at $25,000. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 8 at 9 a.m. in the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr.
