POTTSTOWN PA – Two “Community Connection” meetings scheduled by the Pottsgrove School District during January and April, respectively, will cover topics now of concern to parents: “Cyberbullying, Sexting, and Internet Safety,” and “Illegal Drug Identification.”
The cyberbullying and sexting session, set for Jan. 21 (2014; Tuesday) from 7-8:30 p.m. in Ringing Rocks Elementary School on Kauffman Road, is being “customized” by the Montgomery County Detectives Bureau “to address the specific issues the Pottsgrove community is facing,” district spokesman Michael Wagner said.
Detectives presenting the program will talk about issues directly facing youths, and offer advice to parents on prevention. A manual also will be available.
The April 29 session on drug identification, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Pottsgrove High School on Kauffman Road, will be offered by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant DA Jason Whalley and a narcotics squad detective will talk about illegal drug trends locally, and describe signs to look for that could indicate drug abuse.
