Motorcycle Accident Friday Results In Several Charges

Motorcycle Accident Friday Results In Several ChargesSANATOGA PA – A Lower Pottsgrove man who was involved in an accident Friday (Jan. 31, 2014) at 6:42 p.m. on North Charlotte Street south of School Lane will be charged with several traffic violations including driving under the influence of alcohol, township police reported.

Sgt. Robert Greenwood and Ofc. Christopher DiPiano said Harry Raymond Keifrider, 40, of an unspecified township address, was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle without headlights and allegedly was speeding when he crashed into the rear end of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee owned by Quigley Motors of Boyertown PA.

Police, a Goodwill ambulance, and fire police from the Ringing Hill and Sanatoga companies converged quickly – “within one minute” – on the scene at 1394 N. Charlotte, the officers said, to find Keifrider and the vehicles. Upon speaking with Keifrider, police claimed he had “bloodshot and glassy eyes, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.” They also alleged he admitted to have been drinking before driving.

Although Keifrider was said to have been ejected from the motorcycle upon impact, “he was up and walking around after the accident,” according to the police report. He was transported to a local hospital to be checked for injuries. The motorcycle, police added, sustained “severe damage;” damage to the Jeep was reported as “moderate.”

At the hospital, Keifrider allegedly refused testing of his blood by police.

A summons to the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr. is pending at a later date, according the to officers.
