WHAT HAS THE WEATHER DONE TO THE SCHUYLKILL? – Clogged a portion of it with some stationary and floating ice and snow, that’s true, but the frosty coating – enhanced by the day’s sunshine – also makes things along the Schuylkill River quietly glisten and gleam. This photo was a cover illustration for an e-mail newsletter distributed Thursday (Feb. 13, 2014) by the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, 140 College Dr., Pottstown PA. The heritage area “uses conservation, recreation, education, historic preservation and tourism as tools for community revitalization and economic development,” it said. The Schuylkill has been voted Pennsylvania’s River of the Year for 2014.
