POTTSTOWN PA – Award-winning Philadelphia science teacher and historical interpreter Dr. Daisy Nelson Century will take on the role of African-American abolitionist and women’s rights activist Sojourner Truth in the first Women’s History Month observance conducted Sunday (March 9, 2014) by the YWCA Tri-County Area.
Century’s presentation of Truth’s battles against gender inequalities will be presented from 1-3 p.m. in the community room of Montgomery County Community College on College Drive. The program includes lunch, and tickets will be available at the door or can be reserved by calling Dawn Short at the YWCA, 610-323-1888 Ext. 202.
Century, a well-reviewed interpreter, dresses like and assumes the persona of her character, engaging her audience from the birth-to-death story of her subject’s life, according to the YWCA’s announcement. Guests will “laugh, cry, sigh, and cheer as the character unfolds right in front of their eyes,” it said. A question-and-answer session will end the performance.
The event is sponsored by the YWCA Women’s Excel group.
