Pottsgrove Youth Football, Cheer, Holding Registrations

POTTSTOWN PA – Registration is under way for the 2014 season of Pottsgrove Youth Football and Cheer, organizers say. Teams are already beginning to fill up, they report, so registration is important for parents and children interested in participating.

Pottsgrove Youth Football, Cheer, Holding RegistrationsTwo registration sessions are scheduled for April 16 (Wednesday) and 24 (Thursday), both from 6:30-8 p.m. in the lower-level lobby of Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, Buchert Road. Walk-ins are encouraged, and online registration also is anticipated to be available during mid-April.

Teams are being formed for:

  • Flag football, available for youths entering kindergarten or first grade. Participants receive a flag football helmet and team shirt. Practices are held two to three evenings weekly at West Pottsgrove Elementary School. Registration costs $75, and player families will be responsible for fund-raising of an additional $100;
  • Tackle football, available for youths entering second through seventh grades. Participants receive practice gear (football pants, reversible practice jersey), protective equipment (shoulder pads, helmet, chin strap) and uniform (game pants and personalized game jersey). Registration costs $175, and player families will be responsible for fund-raising of an additional $100; and
  • Cheer, available for youths entering kindergarten through seventh grade. Participants receive a cheer uniform (bodysuit, bloomers, skirt, top, shoes, bow and pom-poms). Registration costs $125, and player families will be responsible for fund-raising of an additional $100.

During registration, all players will be required to submit photocopies of a birth certificate as proof of age, and a report card as proof of residency. Identification checks of players also will be made at the start of the season.

The organization recently formed a board of directors, incorporated, and filed for non-profit status. It hopes to grow and strengthen its program for the youth of Pottsgrove.
