SANATOGA PA – A large amount of jewelry was stolen from a display case during an overnight burglary discovered Thursday (April 17, 2014) at 2:08 a.m. in the K-Mart department store at the Sanatoga Village Center shopping plaza, 2200 E. High St., according to Lower Pottsgrove police, who have issued a public call for help in catching the perpetrators.
The value of the stolen merchandise isn’t being revealed, township Chief Michael Foltz said.
Police responded to security alarms that started sounding early Thursday morning at the store, Ofc. Matthew Musselman reported. When they arrived they found glass in one of the store’s east-side Garden Center doors had been smashed and the door forcibly opened. Police established a perimeter surrounding the store, and searched it with the assistance of Limerick and Royersford police units and a canine unit from Pottstown police
The K-Mart burglary suspect had already fled, Musselman said, but his movements were captured on surveillance footage later recovered from store video cameras. It showed the suspect entering the store wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves, and a “Scream”-style white mask covering his face. he also carried what police described as a “pink or red-colored satchel” and a small club or bat.
Anyone with information relating to the crime, or who may have seen anything o anyone suspicious in the area at about the time of the incident, is asked to call the police department at 610-326-1508.
