A THANK YOU FOR HIS SERVICE – When the Lower Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners meets tonight (Thursday, May 22, 2014), it will do so for the first time in several years without checking off the name of Jonathan Spadt, left, during its roll call. Spadt officially resigned from the board effective May 6, citing both work issues that kept him away from township business and a desire to spend more time with his family. His wife and children were in the audience as fellow commissioners praised him and his years of service to Lower Pottsgrove in a variety of volunteer and elected positions, and commemorated his work with the presentation of a plaque by board President Bruce Foltz (above). Spadt’s successor on the board has not yet been selected. Township business owner James Vlahos confirmed Tuesday (May 20), while working at the primary election polls, that had been asked to consider joining the board but had not yet accepted its invitation. The board’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Buchert Road municipal building. Its agenda, which usually is available for download from the township website, here, was not yet posted as of 6 a.m. today.
