Police Report Possible Scammer At Sanatoga Ridge

SANATOGA PA – A resident of the Sanatoga Ridge Community retirement residences, in the 2400 block of East High Street, last month may have been the intended victim of an attempted scam, and Lower Pottsgrove police are cautioning township property owners and occupants to be alert for other attempts.

Police Report Possible Scammer At Sanatoga RidgeA Sanatoga Ridge resident reported to police that a male subject recently identified himself as a worker conducting a survey for PECO, the utility company. He even flashed what appeared to be a PECO identification, Ofc. Christopher DiPiano, one of the department’s two criminal investigators, said Monday (June 2, 2104).

In checking with PECO, however, DiPiano said it was not conducting business in the area at the time (May 19). That’s what prompted police to consider a scam was in progress.

DiPiano warned residents to be cautious, and encouraged the to “call police immediately” at 610-326-1508 if they encounter what they believe to be a suspicious person.
