SANATOGA PA – Two days, five streets, seven thefts. They add up to a specific need for wariness among Lower Pottsgrove residents, township police detectives urged Friday (July 18, 2014).
Detectives Joseph Campbell and Daniel Kienle report they are investigating a total of seven thefts from vehicles parked overnight Wednesday and Thursday (July 16 and 17) on five different streets: Shelly Lane and Danny Road, where there were two incidents each; and one each on Pinehurst Drive, Green Briar Court, and Augusta Drive.
A handgun was taken from one car, they allege. Other missing items included compact discs, loose change and cash, sunglasses, and a wallet. As of Friday night at 5:49, when the department contacted news media to ask members of the public for help and warn them to be cautious, there were no identified suspects.
The police department did not specify the conditions in which the vehicles were found, but indications are that several were left unlocked. A press release it issued repeated earlier advice for residents:
- Lock cars at night, and ensure they are secure.
- Remove valuables from vehicles, or at least hide them from plain view.
- Immediately call 9-1-1 if anyone suspicious or out of place is seen in a neighborhood; don’t delay.
The detectives are seeking tips and information to find the perpetrators. Those who can offer help should call 610-323-1130.
