POTTSTOWN PA – Children in grades 1-5 who live in Lower, Upper or West Pottsgrove townships can look forward to swimming lessons this fall, and adults can join in recreational volleyball games beginning Sept. 10, both being offered by the Pottsgrove Community Recreation Board.
The swim lessons will be held on dates not yet announced at the Pottstown YMCA pool, 724 N. Adams St. Advance registration is necessary because space will be limited. The registration fee is $35 per child, and payable before classes start or on the first day of class. For more information or to register, call Nellie Skone at 610-590-1058.
Adult volleyball games will be held Tuesdays from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at Ringing Rocks Elementary School. Playing is for both fun and exercise, and a one-bounce rule is enforced to ensure everyone’s comfort. The weekly competition is offered from September through June, but will not be held on days when the gym is unavailable or Pottsgrove schools are closed.
A registration fee of $60 for township residents, and $65 for those who live elsewhere, will be charged with half the amount payable in September and the balance due during February.
The Recreation Board is the central recreational organization of the Pottsgroves. It provides recreational activities for residents of the townships and Pottsgrove School District, all of which contribute to its funding.
The board consists of Jim Kaiser and Patty Bleakly of Lower Pottsgrove, Herb Miller and Michelle Thompson of Upper Pottsgrove, Charles Valentine and Pat Daly of West Pottsgrove, and Dave Faulkner and Diane Cherico representing the district. Jill Ludy is director of recreation.
