Police Arrest Pottstown Man For Alleged Assault

SANATOGA PA – A 25-year-old Pottstown man has been arrested on multiple counts, including the alleged assault of a police officer, following an incident Lower Pottsgrove police said occurred Thursday (July 31, 2014) at 6:21 p.m. in the 1500 block of Potter Drive.

Police Arrest Pottstown Man For Alleged AssaultHassan Rothenberger faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, escape, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and harassment, according to police department Sgt. Timothy Walters and Ofc. James McCue.

McCue reported Rothenberger was inside what the officer alleged was a “suspicious vehicle” on Potter Drive, and that during an investigation he suspected narcotics also were in the vehicle. As Rothenberger was being detained, police claimed, he resisted and subsequently assaulted McCue before fleeing on foot.

He was later located and arrested, according to a police report on the incident. It did not offer details of any subsequent chase or search, nor did it mention if narcotics were discovered.
