Route 724-To-422 Detours Up, Signs In Place

PA Route 724 Drivers May Face Detours

READY FOR A LONG DELAY – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation fulfilled its pledge Wednesday (May 27, 2015) and barricaded the eastbound entrance ramp to U.S. Route 422 from PA Route 724 in North Coventry. Closing the ramp now allows PennDOT contractor J.D. Eckman Inc. to begin the process of dismantling it, and build a new one the agency said will better align with 724. Improvements to the 422 bridge that crosses the Schuylkill River near the ramp, and to which it connects, are already under way. The detour sends 724 drivers who want to go east on 422 on a westward path to Route 100, requires them to loop around that interchange to 422 eastbound, and then return. The detour is expected to be in place for 20 months.
