SANATOGA PA – Replacing four bullet-proof vests for officers in the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department this year could become less expensive for taxpayers if it wins a federal grant to cover up to half the cost, according to Chief Michael Foltz.
The department this spring again applied to the Office of Justice Programs’ Bulletproof Vest Partnership to help pay for the vests, Foltz reported, which are priced at between $900 and $1,000 each. Grant awards usually are announced during the fall.
The department won a similar grant in 2014, totaling $1,604. It was among six western Montgomery County departments to receive partnership funding last year.
