422 Bridge Ride Smoother Across Schuylkill

422 BRIDGE PHASE ONE COMPLETED – Eastbound drivers using the new Schuylkill River bridge on U.S. Route 422 near the Armand Hammer Boulevard interchange in Lower Pottsgrove are enjoying a smoother ride. Work crews on Saturday (June 20, 2015) successfully shifted traffic from the existing bridge there to the one just completed as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s $73 million reconstruction project. As seen from an overall perspective (above) and from the driver’s behind-the-windshield view (below), the roadway seems easier for traffic movement. The next phase of lane changes occurs during the coming weekend, as crews shift westbound traffic onto the new bridge as well. That will allow demolition of the old westbound bridge to begin, followed by construction of a new one.
