SAY GOODBYE TO POTTSGROVE HIGH – … at least as most of the public last saw it, which was probably around graduation day three weeks ago. Both the interior and exterior of Pottsgrove High School, the reconstruction of which continues during summer vacation, have radically changed since. Construction crews were busy Thursday (July 2, 2013) removing old roofing materials (above) to prepare for installation of a new roof. They tore out windows (below), doors and even much of the front entrance (bottom), and carefully salvaged anything recyclable. Assistant Superintendent Dr. William Shirk was a bit surprised by the speed of the reclamation work; “they’ve got it all cleared out inside, front to back,” he reported while watching workers from the Kauffman Road district office parking lot. Fear not; the general contractor’s timetable calls for everything in disorder to be back in order by the time school resumes in September. Even then, roughly a year will remain until the project is completed.
