SANATOGA PA – A male juvenile younger than 18 who Lower Pottsgrove police allege was carrying what initially appeared to be a handgun, but was later determined to be an air gun, had the weapon seized and will be cited, according to a Tuesday (July 21, 2015) police department press release.
The young man, who police said was not accompanied by a parent or guardian, was not identified by name because of his age.
The incident occurred five days earlier, on July 16 (Thursday) at about 6 p.m. on Allison Drive near East High Street. Ofc. Matthew Musselman, who was on patrol at the time, reported he saw the subject carrying what he believed was a handgun.
After stopping and making contact with the youth, Musselman learned the weapon was an “H&K look-alike air soft gun,” but that it lacked an orange cap on its muzzle to indicate it was “a non-lethal device.” The officer confiscated the weapon and issued the citation.
