After Surviving This, Township Officer’s Back

AN ARDUOUS 10 MONTHS – Lower Pottsgrove Police Ofc. James J. “Jim” Kenney Jr., who joined the local force during 2010, is returning to full duty after his extended recovery from a Sept. 22, 2014, crash, Chief Michael Foltz announced Friday (July 24, 2015). Kenny had been trapped inside his cruiser (seen in the police photo above) after it was hit broadside by a vehicle driven by a Coatesville man who was charged with running a stop sign. Foltz later told the Board of Commissioners the horrific accident scene had “rattled him.” Although not life-threatening, the township officer’s injuries required immediate hospitalization and later surgeries. Kenney returned to modified duty in March, and now is being brought back to fully active availability, the department indicated in a Facebook status item.
