SANATOGA PA – Anticipated improvements to Sanatoga Park, for which Lower Pottsgrove is now seeking bids, should make attending concerts at the band shell there even more enjoyable and accessible to the disabled or those who have difficulty climbing steep grades.
A legal advertisement advising contractors of the project, and soliciting their bids to complete it, was published last Friday (July 24, 2015) on the township’s behalf. Bidders have about a month to offer their best pricing before the due date of Aug. 27 (Friday).
The improvements include:
- Installation of an Americans With Disabilities Act-compliant path, seating area, and railing to provide additional access to those with disabilities;
- Upgrades to an existing restroom facility to create an ADA-compliant and more secure restroom;
- Partially re-grade and re-stripe of the parking lot to provide ADA spaces nearest to the proposed path; and an
- Upgrade of existing gravel paths to macadam.
The township in February (2015) won a $61,240 Community Development Block Grant, funneled through Montgomery County, for the effort. Lower Pottsgrove will pay an additional $12,248 in engineering costs as its contribution. The entire project is valued at $73,488.
