SANATOGA PA – A 23-year-old Pottstown man was charged Thursday (July 30, 2015) with driving while intoxicated, after Lower Pottsgrove police received the results of tests taken following an incident that occurred two weeks earlier at the intersection of Pruss Hill and North Pleasant View roads.
Nathan Frederick Gaugler, of the 1400 block of Juniper St., Pottstown PA, has been issued a summons by township Ofc. Scott Burnick after laboratory tests indicated Gaugler’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit, and that there also were levels of marijuana in his system, according to a police department press release.
Burnick said he attempted to conduct a traffic stop July 12 (Sunday) at 1:38 a.m. on a Chevy Silverado, after he allegedly observed it failing to stop at the intersection. Initially, Burnick reported, the Chevy also failed to yield and continued on to North Pleasant View, but eventually was stopped on Bleim Road.
Burnick alleged the driver, Gaugler, admitted to have been drinking. He also failed a field sobriety test, the officer claimed. Gaugler was taken into custody and transported to Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, where his blood was drawn for testing.
