POTTSTOWN PA – Same types of crime. Same township. Different neighborhood.
Overnight thefts from vehicles, reports of which have kept the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department busy so far this summer in a variety of different housing communities across the township, occurred again late last week, the department reported in a status update on its Facebook page.
This time thieves struck in the area of Rhoads Road and Villa Drive on the municipality’s northwest side. Police notified Facebook readers of the thefts Saturday (Aug. 8, 2015); the alleged incidents took place Thursday through Friday (Aug. 6 and 7) after 10:30 p.m. and before 5 a.m., they said.
The department again reminded area residents to keep their vehicles locked, and urged them to remove valuables and any sets of keys. They also asked for residents to immediately report any activities they regard as suspicious.
The township has been plagued by similar crimes for about three months :
- Chief Michael Foltz reported the department “continued to see sporadic incidents of thefts from vehicles during July in the area of Village Lane and Pleasant View Road;
- During late June, the department investigated a total of 27 thefts from vehicles and stolen vehicles, and successfully arrested two suspects believed to be involved in some of them. June incidents were not limited to the township, Foltz noted, but also occurred in Pottstown, Upper and West Pottsgroves, and Limerick.
