Royersford Man Charged Thursday With DUI

SANATOGA PA – A Royersford man will be scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the Sanatoga courtroom of Magisterial District Justice Edward Kropp Sr., following his arrest late Thursday night (Aug. 27, 2015) by Lower Pottsgrove police on an alleged charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Chemical testing of the breath of William Deitrick, 21, of Royersford, showed his blood alcohol content at the time exceeded the legal limit, according to township Ofc. Kevin Black. Deitrick earlier submitted to a field sobriety test administered by Black, which he also failed.

In a department press release, Black reported he observed “a dark-colored Cadillac sedan … driving erratically on North Pleasant View Road” during a patrol of the area Tuesday at about 11:48 p.m. Black followed the vehicle, and said he saw it cross and ride double yellow lines on “multiple occasions.”

Black pulled the vehicle over in the 1000 block of Buchert Road, he said; identified the driver as Deitrick, and after speaking with him believed Deitrick was operating under the influence. Administration of the tests followed, and charges were subsequently filed.
