POTTSTOWN PA – Debbie Zlomek, RN, MSN, CDE, BC-ADM, who works as the certified diabetes educator for Pottstown Medical Specialists Inc. (PMSI), has received board certification in advanced diabetes management from the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).
Zlomek (inset above) is one of only 1,400 individuals worldwide to earn board certification, which enables them to manage complex patient needs and assist patients with therapeutic diabetes problem-solving. Board certification was awarded after more than a year of study and rigorous testing.
Zlomek and the physicians with whom she works annually care for hundreds of patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and also those at risk of developing diabetes. Patient appointments are accepted through physicians at PMSI’s offices in Bally, Boyertown, Collegeville, Royersford (background above), Stowe, and Pottstown.
PMSI is a physician-owned multi-specialty group practice with offices in Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties. It is committed to delivering the highest quality medical health care through the coordination of properly planned, managed and utilized medical services.
A 26-year resident of Sanatoga, Zlomek earned her nursing degree from Montgomery County Community College. She continues to work with MCCC’s nursing students, and in November 2014 was named as one of the college’s Fabulous 50 graduates during its 50th anniversary observance. She also has been nationally approved by AADE as a mentor for nurses pursuing a career as a certified diabetes educator.
She earned her master’s of science degree in nursing clinical systems leadership from the University of Arizona in December 2014, and also was named the 2014 winner of the university’s Gladys E. Sorensen Award for Academic Excellence. In March of this year, Zlomek was named the 2015 winner of the YWCA Tri-County Area Exceptional Woman Award in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Zlomek additionally holds a Professional In Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute.
