Pottsgrove Honors Active, Retired Military Friday

POTTSTOWN PA – Athletes, administrators, and employees in the Pottsgrove School District will again pay special tribute to all active and retired men and women serving with the U.S. Armed Forces during the Falcons’ football game Friday night (Sept. 18, 2015) against Perkiomen Valley High School in Pottsgrove’s stadium on School Lane.

The district and its sponsor, Manor Care Health Services of Pottstown, are providing complimentary admission to the game for all active veteran military personnel. Additionally, the high school Football Booster Club will provide each military member with a commemorative T-shirt.

“We are humbled by your service,” district Athletic and Activities Director Gary DeRenzo told veterans in a recent e-mail, “and hope you can join us on the 18th.”

The military honors also will include a tradition of introducing the group before the start of the game and escorting them onto the field through a “Tunnel Of Valor” created by players and coaches. Those interested in participating are asked to arrive by 6:15 p.m.

Anyone who would like to display a military vehicle as part of the evening observance can do so in an area marked off in the stadium overlooking the field. Fans will be able to stop by and see some of the unique modes of transportation that soldiers used.

Those interested in bringing a should call DeRenzo’s office in advance at 610-326-6376 for planning purposes, and have the vehicle on campus Friday night by 6 p.m.
