PAYING THEIR RESPECTS TO A LEADER – Ladder trucks of the Ringing Hill and Sanatoga fire companies provided an arch that framed the American flag (top), and members of the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department stood at attention and saluted (above) as community residents paid their respects and said final goodbyes Saturday (Sept. 19, 2015) during a memorial service for former police Chief Raymond D. Bechtel Jr. Bechtel died Sept. 5 after a long battle with cancer. The service, which included a display (below) of photos and the chief’s framed badges and medals, was held at New Hanover Lutheran Church in Gilbertsville. “Be proud of your legacy,” the department Facebook page said Sunday to Chief Bechtel, and then asked, “Watch over our officers each and every day.”
