Thursday Accident Damages Car And Pillar

WENT FOR THE BRAKE, HIT THE GAS – This wasn’t the kind of vehicular reaction Anne B. Pachik was expecting, according to Lower Pottsgrove police. They reported Pachik, 74, of the 600 block of Woodland Dr., Pottstown, was attempting to pull into a parking space for the disabled Thursday (Oct. 8, 2015) at about 2:23 p.m. in front of the No. 1 Chinese Restaurant at the North End Shopping Center, 1300 N. Charlotte St. She went to hit the brake to stop her car, a maroon Buick LeSabre, and accidentally stepped on the accelerator, Ofc. Scott Burnick reported. The vehicle throttled forward, drove over a parking median strip, and crashed into a supporting pillar of the shopping center. No individuals were injured in the crash, Burnick said, but the car and pillar were casulaties. The Buick suffered severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene. The pillar endured minor damage too, and must be repositioned and repaired.
