TRAPPE PA – A group of 15 men who attend True North Christian Church, 104 W. Third Ave., went shopping Saturday (Oct. 10, 2015) following their morning prayer, and returned with more than $3,200 worth of diapers, baby wipes, baby powder, and other infant supplies that have been donated to Pottstown’s Genesis Pregnancy Care Center.
Genesis, located at 888 E. High St., “helps women make difficult decisions related to pregnancy and childcare,” church member Mark Moore noted.
The church saw an opportunity at Genesis to re-stock what it said were “badly needed supplies,” and was “glad to be able support such a valuable community outreach,” Pastor Bob Levins added. “We encourage all Christians and local churches to actively support Genesis in a significant way”, he said.
Genesis Director Diane Pomon called the church to express her thanks.
The men fanned out across the interior of the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Shoemaker Road in Pottstown, rolling eight separate shopping carts across its aisles. They were quickly filled with boxes and bags of products intended for the women and children who seek help from Genesis. Wal-Mart management offered a discount on some merchandise, and even opened a separate check-out line for the group, according to Moore.
“Our nation has been, is now, and will continue to be under God’s judgment as long as we allow our children to be aborted. As a community we need to rise up and support organizations like Genesis that help women who decide to choose life for their child,” he said.
Both Levins and Moore are Lower Pottsgrove residents.
